The Chicago Zoological Society has openings for Marketing Events Operations Assistants (Seasonal) to contribute to the success of the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo by educating and entertaining potential guests at offsite outreach events regarding institutional activities and conservation issues, as well as executing onsite events that further the mission of the Society , contributing to an exceptional guest experience, and increasing the visibility and exposure of the Society and Brookfield Zoo.
Marketing Events Assistants use their excellent customer service skills to serve as Society ambassadors at weekend festivals and events inside and outside of the zoo.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Support Marketing's onsite public events.
This includes set up, transportation and take down of supplies and equipment that pertain to each event.
Events range from concerts, to a 5K, to Holiday evening festivitiesAct as key onsite liaison for onsite sponsorship activations.
Responsible for set-up, transport and teardown of sponsor materials and supplies.
Transport and set-up/take down outreach booth and represent the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo at scheduled outreach events including parades held throughout the Chicagoland metropolitan area.
Responsible for learning and delivering a variety of information, materials and activities related to the Society and animal collection while maintaining a clean and branded appearance.
Dress in costume and be animated as a Zoo character, while maintaining costume image.
Greet Zoo guests and pose for pictures upon request.
Support all Marketing revenue-generating programs including group sales, hotel partner program, ticketing programs, Tree Trim, and sponsorships.
Responsible for order processing, customer service, and fulfillment.
Identify and research event-related partnerships, sponsorship, in-kind contributions and assist with timely contract execution/tracking, issuing of invoices, and supporting partnership marketing administrative duties.
Other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and SpecificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
Excellent customer service skills required.
Strong verbal communication skills required.
Must be able to work in a team and be flexible.
Must be animated and outgoing.
Strong organizational and project management skills required.
Ability to interact with public and maintain a positive image at all times required.
Experience and/or ability to work and interact effectively with a diverse, multicultural audience.
A valid driver's license is required.
DESIRABLE/PREFERRED
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
A desire to work in events, marketing and theater.
Multilingual ability, Spanish fluency a plus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This seasonal position requires the incumbent to work events inside and outside of the Zoo during a variety of hours.
Due to the nature of these events, the job requires weekend work, including Friday through Sunday evenings.
Hours can be sporadic and generally range from 4 to 40 per hours per month.
The number of hours worked depend on the amount and duration of the events in which the Society participates.
Historically, the peak season for Marketing Events is from May through the end of December.
Throughout the year there are approximately 5 mandatory event days you must be available to work.
Incumbent must be reliable and dependable.
Marketing Events Operations Assistants must coordinate their own transportation in the event a Society vehicle is not available.
Mileage on personal vehicles will be reimbursed.
Offsite outreach functions include but are not limited to local parades, shopping malls, county and community fairs, sporting events, and large show productions.
Must represent the Society in a professional manner at all times.
The required uniform for Marketing Events Operations Assistants is khaki (tan) pants to be provided by the employee, and a Society-issued uniform shirt.
Additional uniform shirts and approved apparel are available for purchase, if desired.
