General Summary:


?


Responsible for the overall nursing functions.? Ultimately responsible for improving the nursing staff functions by maximizing its effectiveness and efficiency while maintaining quality care.? This will be accomplished through continuous improvement efforts.? The Director of Nursing is also ultimately responsible for staffing, training/development, and providing performance management guidance to staff.?? To ensure that on-going nursing is designed to meet the physical, mental and psychological well being of Clients of Cantata and its divisions in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and facility standards, guidelines and regulations governing our company.???

1.??? Performs all duties in accordance with the Cantata Promise, treating every person (Client, fellow employee-partner, general community member) with respect, integrity and compassion.


?


2.??? Organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the nursing department as defined by the corporate nurse, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care unit.


?


3.??? Develops, maintain, and periodically update the Nursing Policies & Procedures Manual including changes in nursing objectives, philosophies and protocols.


?


4.??? Participates in an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing department and implement appropriate plan(s) of action to correct deficiencies.


?


5.??? Participates in company surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies and reviews for incident reports relating to state requirements.


?


6.??? Determines the staffing needs based on IDPH guidelines of the nursing service department necessary to meet the total needs of the residents/patients and make recommendations for the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed.


?


7.??? Assign a sufficient number of licensed practical, registered nurses and certified nursing assistants for each tour of duty to ensure that quality care is maintained.


?


8.??? Develops work assignments and schedule duty hours, and/or assists nursing supervisory staff in completing and performing such tasks monitors absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of nursing care personnel are on duty at all times.


?


9.??? Daily reviews of Medicare unit and BHRS for level of care need and appropriate placement.


?


10. Reviews complaints and grievances and provide complaint/grievance reports to the Corporate nurse and Administrator.?


?


11. Assists the Infection Control Coordinator in establishing a TB management program for employee-partners and Clients.


?


12. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluid, infectious materials, and hazardous chemical in accordance with the company?s policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.


?


13. ?Provides the Corporate Nurse and Administrator with data relative to the quality of the nursing care provided to the Clients.


?


14. Ensures that rooms are ready for admission.


?


15. Encourages attending physicians to record and sign progress notes, physicians? orders, etc., on a timely basis in the electronic medical record and in accordance with current regulations.


?


16. Ensures that all nursing services are monitored for completion of orders; nurses? notes and care plans are followed.


?


17. Provides direct nursing care as necessary.


?


18. Ensures a well-educated nursing service department.


?


19. Develops, implements, and maintains an effective orientation program that orients the new employee-partners to the company, its policies and procedures, and to his/her job positions and duties.


?


20. Participates in leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.


?


21. Monitors nursing personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.


?


22. Ensures that nursing service work areas (i.e., nurse?s stations, medicine preparations rooms, Client care rooms, etc.) are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.


?


23. Ensures that all nursing personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress codes.


?


24. Recommends to the Corporate Nurse and Administrator the equipment and supply needs of the department.


?


25. Assists the Maintenance Director in developing a preventative maintenance program for maintaining the nursing department?s equipment and supplies in a safe and operable manner.


?


26. Ensures that appropriate MSDSs are on file for hazardous chemicals used in the nursing department and review such materials with the QA nurse on a regular basis.


?


27. Participates in care planning and ensure that all personnel involved in providing care to the resident?s are aware of the resident?s care plan.


?


28. Keeps abreast of economic conditions/situations, and recommend to the Corporate Nurse and Administrator adjustments in nursing services that ensure the continued ability to provide quality care.


?


29. Monitors nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.


?


30. Ensures that all nursing personnel are knowledgeable of the resident?s rights and responsibilities and ensure that all nursing personnel adhere to them.


?




??Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.


?? Several years experience in nursing administration or supervisory capacity with at least three (3) years of nursing preferably in a medical/surgical area.


?? Prior experience in Long Term Care or geriatrics.


?? Knowledge with state and federal regulations and nursing standards.


?? Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and to supervise other personnel.


?? Ability and willingness to effectively motivate and lead individuals and groups with diverse needs and abilities.


?? Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care.


?? Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.?


?? Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.


?? Must be able to maintain good personnel relations and employee moral.


?? Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.?


?? Ability and willingness to work harmoniously within a team environment departmentally.?


?? Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with a diverse group of people.


?? Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents/patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.


?? Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.


?? Aptitude for detail work.


?? Basic computer literacy.


?? Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
